Developed a web-based suite of tools designed to teach and assess the learning of medical informatics. Suite of programs includes online evaluations, online grading, feedback and grading forms, and a clinical query tool that interfaces with PubMed at the National Library of Medicine. Built, configured, and administered the UCI Medweb Linux server. Key system software includes: Red Hat Linux, Apache Web Server, Perl Programming Language, mod_perl Web Accelerator, and MySQL Database Server. This work was recognized at two national conferences and has generated a great deal of interest from other medical informatics programs.

Worked as a lead Spanish-English translator and learned basic terms in native dialect of Quiché. Also helped organize the pharmacy and general team administration.

Responsible for the school-wide intranet. Implemented dramatic changes in the overall design and layout of the site. Initiated development of Catalyst, which is the business school's online content management system. Catalyst includes course scheduling, online course content, interview scheduling, job searches, online grading and assignment submission, user management, online chats, discussion forums, online course registration, online textbook purchases, and a host of other applications which address the needs of the business school. Catalyst was originally developed on Windows NT using server-side Java and Microsoft SQL server 7.0. The site was later rewritten completely in Perl for increased flexibility in supporting the dynamic needs of nearly 6,000 students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the UCI Graduate School of Management. Since that time, the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University has licensed Catalyst and is actively using the system to address their intranet needs.

Started UCI Medweb, an online resource for medical students at UC Irvine. Designed and implemented a popular application known as Exambase, which allows students to access online exam questions and to submit study materials. Other applications include dynamic class rosters, online evaluations, personalized event calendaring, and online medical literature searches using the national PubMed database.

Project developed a model for determining oxygen saturation in the mesenteric veins noninvasively using MRI. Wrote computer program that implements the crucial non-linear optimization routine to convert MRI values to oxygen saturation levels. Headed up the data analysis team. Assisted in canine surgeries. Developed several protocols to increase accuracy and efficiency of the project.

Took over development of S.I.M.A. (Integrated System of Argentine Missions), which was a complex system for managing all operational aspects of the Salta Mission. This included managing nearly one hundred leases of various properties, finances for nearly 200 missionaries, online materials and stock control, transfer management, and various administrative needs. All source code written in Clipper and DBase. System was written completely in Spanish and fully internationalized for Latin America.
